Official Conference Accommodations

Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park and Hyatt Place Knoxville/Downtown

The 2020 IPMHVC/EIC event will be hosted at the Knoxville Convention Center.  We have secured a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park and another block at the Hyatt Place Knoxville/Downtown for our attendees.

The Conference Registration does not include hotel accommodations.  The 2020 IPMHVC/EIC Organizing Committee has negotiated a  rate of $129/night for accommodations at either hotel. This rate extends three days before and three days after the conference (assuming room availability, please check regularly), so we encourage attendees to come early or stay late to explore the surrounding area and national park. All conference attendees will enjoy free Wi-Fi internet access (both in the meeting space and in hotel rooms) for the duration of the event. Book by May 6, 2020 in order to obtain the conference rate.

Other Lodging Options

The conference has a contract with the two hotels above and strongly encourage you to stay with them.  Failure to meet the contractual requirements raises the cost of planning and organizing the conference. If you are unable to book a room, (please check back often, all options are first-come-first-served based on availability) there are other hotels in the downtown area.  If you have questions about hotel accommodations, please contact the IPMHVC General Conference Chair.

Beware of Unauthorized Hotel Solicitations

Note that the two hotels above are the only official hotels associated with our event. While other hotel resellers may contact you offering housing for your trip, they are not endorsed by or affiliated with the show. Beware that entering into financial agreements with non-endorsed companies can have costly consequences.

Why Stay at the Official Conference Hotel?

The conference guarantees the hotel that that a certain percentage of attendees will stay in that hotel. The hotel holds a block of rooms for our attendees at a generally discounted the rate from their normal charges.

If the conference does not meet the contracted sleeping room commitment, the hotel gets paid anyway. Unfilled rooms can cost the conference thousands of dollars. Not only do these financial penalties hurt the current year’s conference, but the next conference in the series cannot negotiate as beneficial a hotel contract. In both cases the registration fee is then under pressure to increase unreasonably.

What if we don’t contract for sleeping rooms? Attendees will pay more to stay at the conference hotel. The conference will incur additional expenses for meeting room rental fees, which can be quite costly. The hotel will not hold a block of rooms for attendees, which may leave some people quite a distance from the conference venue. In short, the conference ends up with higher expenses; many of those attending will pay a higher price for their hotel rooms, future conference registration fees will be pushed higher.

Please support the conference and DEIS by staying at the conference hotel.
